Reporters Lindsay Kines and Kim Bolan accept the 2001 Michener Honourable Mention award from Governor General Adrienne Clarkson on behalf of the Vancouver Sun.

The newspaper received the award for reports on the disappearance of women from Vancouver's east side. The 11-part series examined the investigators' lack of progress in solving what may be Canada's biggest serial murder case.

The Citation of Merit was presented at the annual Michener Foundation award ceremony held at Rideau Hall on April 30th, 2002.

Each year, the Governor General has honoured Michener Award and Fellowship winners at a Government House ceremony. Each of Roland Michener's successors has graciously adopted and maintained a personal interest in the Michener Awards Foundation and its commitment to Canadian journalism excellence.
