Melanie Coulson accepts the 2012 Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Journalism Education from Governor General David Johnston. The photo was taken at the Michener Award ceremony held at Rideau Hall, June 12th, 2012.

Ms. Coulson will spend the winter term at Carleton University’s School of Journalism conducting research into the growing involvement of audiences and citizens in the journalism enterprise and teaching an undergraduate course in basic reporting.

The Michener-Deacon fellowship is awarded annually to a deserving recipient and helps to advance education in the field of journalism and serves the public interest through the promotion of values that benefit the community.
